Lofting in miniature Part 2 Dolls house tools

Contd from Lofting in Miniature.

Im not very good with feet and inches. Im very easily confused by fractions of an inch.
I cant reliably say this out loud: 1/32". Sometimes it comes out as "One thirty tooth".
Im not going to be rude about them or start a campaign. Theyve served others well for centuries. I just dont have to use them myself.
Using unfamiliar measurements at a quarter scale was starting to hurt.
So I looked for a 1:4 imperial scale rule.
They dont exist.
At the school I teach in we have an amazing machine that will cut and engrave any piece of plastic with laser accuracy. Because its a laser.
I explained to one of the Design & Technology teachers what I wanted to do and she taught me how to use the software to drive the machine. Im not sure she had much confidence in me because after the lesson she suggested I ask one of the sixth form students to do it for me.
Education is a wonderful thing.
Our negotiated price was £20 for the pair.
It took me longer to explain what I wanted than him to make them.
That lad will go far.
